Saw a Bumper Sticker Today...

I was driving behind a woman today in a very little car with a great, big bumper sticker. It read...
"Ginger Rogers did everything Fred did... Backwards and IN HEELS"
Need I say more?

New Trim Makes A Big Impact

I was so excited to find this new mini pom trim for my tutu edges. I've been looking for a while, trying to come up with an edge that will dress up the skirt on it's own, but light enough not to weigh it down. I went to http://www.jcaroline.com/, one of my favorite trim and ribbons stores and found this delightful blue/ green pompom trim.

Coming up with a way to sew it on was a little difficult. I didn't want to sew over the poms, and the width of the trim was only 1/2" wide. I ended up going very slowly with my needle in the left-most position with coordinating thread. It went on beautifully and makes a wonderful edge.

Although it is a little spendier per yard, I think this will be a nice addition to my designs.
Any thoughts?

Maybe... This is My Thing...

I recently received these darling photographs from a friend who ordered a tutu for her daughter's birthday. She truly was a princess for her first birthday. How lucky I feel to be a part of these milestones!

It's emails, photos and stories like this that let me know I'm doing exactly what I want to be doing. I get so much joy from hearing about peoples "tutu stories".

Here's another email I got from a recent Etsy order:

If this is half as gorgeous, I'm thrilled to have found it! I'm so excited after 18 months from start to finish, we are almost about to bring our baby girl home from Guatemala! ******* is 11 months old and should be home the first week in March. I have two bio boys so all things girlie is like a dream, and boy this fills the bill! "

Is there anything better? So many opportunities have been placed at my feet in the last year. I was able to help a little girl cheer up from her cancer treatments, tranform a young refugee into an angel for Halloween, celebrate a myriad of birthdays, a wedding, an adoption and make a grandma cry!

I think I will try saving more and more of these little notes and put to post. When I hear back from clients who got so much out of my little things I make, I think that maybe this is my thing. Maybe, this is what I'm meant to do right now. Maybe this path was put before me for a reason.
Here's to spreading more pink in the world!!

How many Tutus can a Tutu Maker Make If a Tutu Maker Makes Lots of Tutus

What a riot! I was wrapping up a bunch of my orders up today, when I stood back and looked at my table, with what looked like a cotton candy explosion. Thanks to a very special order from Sara Belle Boutique in Hartford, Wisconsin, my studio was awash in pinks!

It is especially cheerful in here today, because outside it is a mess of cold, cloudy, mess of sleet and rain. Wisconsin winters just aren't what they used to be.

Thinking of new ideas to go off of my wands, I whipped up some puffy heart wands with some of my extra felt. I think they turned out really cute.

First I made a template of the heart shape I wanted. Next, carefully ironed some stabilizer on the back so that the heart would stand up on its own. Sewed two hearts, wrong sides together with a decorative zig zag stitch, leaving an opening for stuffing. Made a ribbon sleeve for the wooden dowel, tied my ribbons on and hot glued the stick in place. Finished with decorative touches on the heart and .... voila!

Also, here's a link to a friend of mine whose beautiful jewlery really inspires me! Enjoy! http://www.mamamaybornedesigns.blogspot.com/
