♥Smash Cake Tutu♥

One of  the cutest trends right now in portrait photography is something that I always loved letting my little girls do. Have an entire cake at their disposal to eat with their hands. It's pure joy!

Makally Photography took this cutey loving her cake in a Whimsy Wendy Smash Cake Tutu. Available in a variation of colors, this tutu is easily cleaned off with warm water and a spray nozzle. Wipe dry, let hang and wear again!

Custom Newborn Tutus by Whimsy Wendy

Daisy Birthday Party

Wouldn't you love to be a guest at this daisy-themed daisy-party? Custom tutus and matching wands will bedeck the festivities for a wonderful, light-hearted celebration.

I love the look of these satin ribbon roses. So sweet.

These mounds of tutus remind me of big pillows of marshmallows. They are so poofy, it looks like you could bounce off of them.

Gobs of ribbon!

Each tutu is wrapped up in its own tulle bag for safe keeping and ready to be shipped off for the party.

French Market Bags

Recently I came across the book: One-Yard Wonders: 101 Sewing Fabric Projects; Look How Much You Can Make with Just One Yard of Fabric!

I have gobs of fabric that I collect and was looking for a creative and useful way to use it. I found this darling pattern for a French Market Bag. Trimmed in simple bias tape, it features french seams inside for a 'seamless' and clean tote that folds into a small bundle, easily stuffed into your purse. The wide straps offer a lot of strength and are perfect for that quick trip to the grocery store, or ballet class.

I found this marigold, Parisian print online years ago. The white bias tape offers a clean edge and the fabric ribbon sewn into the bottom of the bag, allows it to be bundled up tidily.

I love the wide, comfy straps!

Things To Make with Scraps

I'm always looking for ways to use my scraps...especially if I'm crazy about the fabric. I have a horrible time throwing them away.

Here's a simple solution: fabric party bags.

Simply cut out a 8"x 11" of spare fabric with pinking shears. Fold in half and sew up one long and one short end with a 1/4" to 1/2" seam allowance. Stuff with party goodies, candy and stickers. Cut out a fabric ribbon to coordinate or use left over ribbon scraps to top off and add a little flair.

These might make good jewelry bags too!

Custom Cupcake Tutu!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any cuter... a custom order from Etsy, the client wanted cupcakes surrounding the skirt for her daughters cupcake themed, first birthday!
The felt cupcakes were made by www.heartfeltcreation.etsy.com. She makes amazing embellishments by hand and is a cancer survivor. Her things are darling and range from hedgehogs to hello kitty appliques. She was wonderful to work with!

'Nog' Bear... a purposeful, green bear

Purposefully recycled from upholstery samples, this bear is looking for a good home to snuggle in....

He's quite content just sitting near you... He's a gentle little thing but a little sensitive about his belly. (Better not play with his belly button.)

I Want One In My Size...

I finally found a trim manufacturer who carries a rose trim similar to the satin one I used earlier in some deigns...(http://www.etsy.com/listing/39488992/sophisticated-and-sassy-black-dress-up)!

Elegant yet sweet, this pink raveled rose trim adds a playful touch to a tutu that could be used for photos ops, birthdays, weddings or just the trim to the grocery store.

Available in my Etsy store in baby, toddler and big girl sizes.

New Year, New House, New Studio

It's been a while since I've been on, but for good reason. Right before Christmas my family and I moved. We'll be unpacking for a while, but we made it!

My studio, right after we moved in, December 13th.

Chaos....wasn't sure where everything was going to go! Too much stuff.

The day after we moved, a major snow storm went through the Twin Cities...

It took me until yesterday to finally feel completely organized and 100% up and running. It's a little white for my 'creative space' but gives me loads of potential. And although it doesn't have the same light that I had in our last home, you can't beat the view.

How long can I keep this up? Forget losing weight! Maybe staying organized should be my New Year's resolution.

Hard to tell from the photo, but I look out on a grove of 50 plus foot white pines and a small pond.
